Music Lyrics #4 – Landslide (Fleetwood Mac)

Sometimes songs are written for one reason, but much like art, they are subjective to those that hear or view them. This song by Fleetwood Mac is one that I know was written from break up between the singer and guitarist, but has always touched me as well as a song about the rejection that comes from others, including from bullying.

It is certainly powerful. It is certainly one that touches my heart and I wanted to share it here on this bullying site as one that has consoled me when needed, particularly when it says “can the child in my heart rise above”. I present Fleetwood Mac (written by Stevie Nicks with guitar by Linsdey Buckingham) singing Landslide. I hope you find comfort in it as I do and are enjoying the sharing of these songs that mean so much to me.

I took my love and I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around

And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
‘Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Mmm Mmm…

Well, I’ve been afraid of changing
‘Cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I’m getting older too

Well, I’ve been afraid of changing
‘Cause I, I built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I’m getting older too
I’m getting older too

So, take my love, take it down
Oh climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring you down, down

And If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring it down
Oh oh, the landslide will bring it down
